Blood
Donors
Q. If I register
now to become a Blood Donor – do I donate blood NOW?
A. NO
– you do not make a donation now. You are
simply listing yourself
on a Philippine-wide data base - that your blood could be available
in the event
of an emergency. The database is accessible anywhere via the Internet.
If there is a future emergency later – and your blood
type matches the Patient’s
need – a family member – or their medical personnel
– will contact you via email
- txt - phone – email. That’s when you will make the
decision to donate or not donate.
Q. What if the
patient is far away, how does the fresh blood get to the patient?
A. Your local hospital/medical
facility that processes your blood donation will know how to transport
blood to the patient.

Q. What do I do
if a family member (or my patient) needs blood quickly?
A. Click
this link. Then select the blood
type needed. Click Search.
Q. Is there a
charge for a blood donation?
A. NO
– volunteers are donating their blood.
It’s ‘People helping People’.
However – although the donor is not charging for
their blood – the medical
facility where they are donating – will likely
have a charge for their services
(medical personal and blood testing) – and the fee may vary
by location.
Note: Fees associated with blood donations are regulated by the
Philippines
Department of
Health under the authority of Republic Act 7719 – National
Blood Services Act of 1994.

Q. Is there a
charge for using the Philippines Blood Registry Info Service?
A. NO
– the online service is FREE for anyone to use.
